For Wi-Fi chip sets to guarantee reliable frequency synthesis, they need stability to be maintained over all operating conditions. Impressively, SaRonix has managed this feat in its miniaturized crystal clock oscillators. Designed for wireless-local-area-networking (WLAN) equipment, the S1633 and S1634 series oscillators feature tight frequency stability and low power consumption. They come in a 3.2-×-5-mm ceramic package.

The S1633 and S1634 are optimized for IEEE 802.11a/b/g wireless access points and WLAN enterprise-networking equipment. These oscillators promise to retain the performance of larger models while offering space- and power-saving benefits at 40, 44, and 48 MHz. They feature precise output performance and low power consumption for fixed and portable wireless-networking equipment. The output logic, which is LVCMOS/LVTTL compatible, achieves at least 45/55% symmetry. Frequencies are available in the range of 40 to 60 MHz with stabilities of ±25 ppm and ±50 ppm. These stabilities include all operating conditions: first year of aging; load fluctuations; initial calibration at 25°C; −20° to +70°C temperature range; and shock and vibration.

The S1633 series operates with a 3.3-V supply, while the S1634 operates with a 2.5-V supply. Each model consumes less than 10 mA in regular operating mode. Both series offer a low-power standby mode. They are available for sampling and prototype builds. Output frequencies are compatible with IEEE 802.11a/b/g. Tape-and-reel packing is available in 1000-piece increments for automated pick-and-place pc-board assembly.
