OSE Systems (www.ose.com), a subsidiary of Enea Data (www.enea.com), joined forces with other Enea Data subsidiaries: Enea Realtime and Enea TekSci consulting. Together, they will become Enea Embedded Technology. Operating as a subsidiary of Enea Data, Enea Embedded Technology will provide turnkey embedded solutions that combine the OSE Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), OSE development tools, and other off-the-shelf components with custom integration, consulting, and training services. Its headquarters will be located in Stockholm, Sweden, and San Diego, Calif.

Shahin Javidi has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Digital Bridges (www.digitalbridges.com). He joins the company from Webraska Mobile Technologies. Javidi will be in charge of worldwide sales and business development. His goal is to reinforce and build on the company's relationships with mobile network operators and other strategic partners.

Eckehard Mielke has been appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Willtek Communications (www.willtek.com). Based at the company headquarters in Ismaning, which is near Munich, Germany, Mielke will oversee the activities of Willtek's national financial controllers. He also will provide financial analysis and direction for Willtek's operations.

Sunny Computer Technology Co., Ltd. opened its first U.S. facility. This Chinese manufacturer of computer parts and peripherals and other electronic components is headquartered in Guang Dong, China. The new combined warehouse and sales office is located in West Berlin, N.J.

Dilithium Networks (www.dilithiumnetworks.com) established offices in Shanghai to meet the growing demand for wireless 3G services in that region.

Digital Communication Technologies (www.digitalcomtech.com) is the latest Java player to join the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium's (EEMBC) group. The GrinderBench benchmarks developed by the EEMBC Java subcommittee measure the performance of Java implementations in handling such tasks as photo decoding, computation-intensive games, XML parsing, cryptography, object creation, and regular expression analysis. Used together, the various components of the GrinderBench suite broadly exercise the Java API while avoiding the limitations of synthetic benchmarks. Other participants in the EEMBC Java Subcommittee include representatives of ARM, esmertec, IBM, Intel, Motorola, Sun, Symbian, and Tao Group.

Pulsic Limited (www.pulsic.com) appointed Ken Roberts as CEO. Founder and acting CEO, Mark Williams, will move into the role of COO. Ken Roberts has worked with many of the leading firms in the EDA industry. Most recently, he was VP and General Manager Europe at Magma Design Automation, Inc.

Elixent (www.elixent.com) recently closed a funding round of $10 million. New investors GIMV and NIF Ventures led this Series B round. In addition, the company welcomed full participation from founding investor 3i. This funding is Elixent's second round. It will be used to expand the company's engineering group and accelerate the rollout of technology.

SiRF Technology (www.sirf.com) has appointed Michael Canning as President and CEO. Canning has over 20 years of experience from companies including Cirrus Logic and Teledyne Semiconductor. At SiRF, he will lead the company's growth in the expanding location-technologies market.

ARM (www.arm.com) purchased Adelante Technologies Belgium, which is part of Adelante Technologies Holding B.V. Adelante Technologies Belgium is a 25-person company based in Leuven, Belgium. Its A|RT technology comprises a methodology for designing optimized processing blocks to accelerate high-data-throughput processing applications.

NDK America, Inc. and NDK Crystal, Inc. (www.ndk.com) moved into their Belvidere, Ill. facility nine months ahead of schedule. This facility combines sales/marketing, research & development, a design center, manufacturing, warehousing, and executive-office functions. Covering a total of 55,000 ft.2, it devotes 34,000 ft.2 to manufacturing.

The Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance—an industry initiative that will define and promote open standards for interfaces to mobile application processors—was announced by ARM, Nokia (www.nokia.com), STMicroelectronics (www.st.com), and Texas Instruments, Inc. (www.ti.com). The MIPI Alliance (www.mipi.org) is a response to the broad interest in the OMAPI standard launched by ST and TI in December 2002.

The Embedded Linux Consortium elected Berardino Baratta to its board of directors. Baratta is Metrowerks' CTO and VP, Linux Solutions Group. In this position, he plans to help efforts toward an open and unified standard for embedded-Linux distributions.
