Seven low-voltage, high-performance analog switches now flaunt what's said to be the industry's smallest package footprint—just 1.6 × 1.6 mm. Known as the DG2000 series, these switches are designed for routing and selecting signals in battery-operated and portable audio, video, and data equipment. An example is the cell phone, in which small size and low power consumption are critical. Thanks to the high-density CMOS process used with the switches, device performance is improved for lower on-resistance, better on-resistance flatness, high off-isolation, lower crosstalk, and wider bandwidth.

The DG2000 analog switches are available in single, dual, and quad configurations to suit a wide array of applications. All of the devices are characterized for operation from 1.8-to-5.5-V power supplies. For example, the DG2011 single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) analog switch boasts a six-lead SC-89 package (industry-standard SOT-666). This package provides 40% board-area savings over SC-70-packaged devices. It also flaunts a height profile that is 55% thinner. In contrast, the DG2011 offers 1.8-Ω on-resistance and a charge injection of less than 10 pC over the entire analog voltage range. It is optimized for audio output switches in portable battery-powered systems.

The DG2016 and DG2031, on the other hand, are dual SPDT analog switches in MSOP-10 packages. The DG2016 is designed specifically for low-voltage, high-bandwidth applications. This switch's matching, flatness, and on-resistance (3 Ω at 2.7 V) are guaranteed over the entire analog voltage range. At 1 MHz, the device achieves wide dynamic performance with better than −80 dB for crosstalk and off-isolation.

The DG2031 provides a sub-1-mΩ on-resistance (0.75 Ω at 2.7 V). It boasts excellent matching between the two switches (less than 0.05 Ω at 2.7 V). At less than 0.2 Ω at 2.7 V, it also guarantees flatness over the entire voltage range.

The four remaining devices are quad low-voltage analog switches (DG2015, DG2041, DG2042, and DG2043). Each switch comes in a small 16-pin QFN leadless package measuring just 4 × 4 mm. The DG2015 is a dual double-pole/double-throw (DPDT) switch. It boasts on-resistance of 0.8 Ω, charge injection of less than 15 pC, and crosstalk and off-isolation of 70 dB. The DG2041, DG2042, and DG2043 are low-on-resistance single-pole/single-throw (SPST) analog switches. They combine 1.6-Ω of on-resistance, 3 pC of charge injection, and less than 20-ns turn-on and turn-off. Clearly, these switches are intended for applications in which signal-switching accuracy, low noise, and low distortion are critical.

Samples and production quantities of the DG2000 series of high-performance analog switches are available now. Pricing starts at $0.35 for U.S. delivery in 100,000-piece quantities.
