Will Google And Femtos Reshape Wireless Industry?
By
Louis Frenzel, Communications/Test Editor
There are a couple of subjects I never got around to this year in WSD, specifically the Google cell phone possibilities and femto cell's potential. None of this exists at the moment except for some trials here and there, but you will be hearing more about them in the coming year. Here is a look at what to expect.

Portable Designs With High Power Batteries And Chargers Electronic Design Webinar-Presented by Micro Power Electronics Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2 pm ET
Robin Sarah Tichy, PhD, Technical Marketing Manager at Micro Power Electronics Inc., provides an industry update and profiles new high-power (or high-pulse) rechargeable lithium batteries. Traditional lithium batteries support pulses of 5 A, while new high-power batteries support pulses over 100 A, enabling many new portable applications. This Webcast details cell configurations, chemical formulations, electrical performance, safety issues, limitations, and sample performance data.

Wireless Networking: Know It All
By
Praphul Chandra, et. al.
There are dozens of books on wireless networking out there. I must have eight or ten of them myself and add to that pile every now and then simply because these books go out of date so fast. This book is more up to date than most I have seen. And the fact that it is written by a large group of authors means that it probably took less time to write it than most.
