Although the latest InGaP MMIC low-noise amplifier from NEC is specifically designed for the 2.34-GHz Satellite Digital Audio Radio Services (SDARS) market, it is also well-suited for antenna modules in the popular 2.4- to 2.5-GHz ISM band. The 3.0-V device replaces two stages of discrete devices, allowing designers to reduce parts count, simplify circuit design, and save real estate. At 2.34 GHz, the UPG2310TK delivers high gain (27 dB), a low noise figure (1.8 dB), and a high third-order intercept point (+28.5 dBm). Operating temperature range is -45°C to 85°C. The UPG2310TK comes in a very compact 1.5- by 1.3- by 0.55-mm, 6-pin minimold package that is lead-free. The LNA is available now in production quantities on 8-mm-wide embossed tape in quantities of 5000 units per reel. Samples are available from California Eastern Laboratories, as is a data sheet at www.cel.com/pdf/datasheets/upg2310tk.pdf.
